Each Michael Aram metal object undergoes a series of grinding, buffing and polishing techniques. Variations or 'imperfections' in the product's finish are characteristic of the creation process. Due to this handmade nature, no two pieces are ever exactly alike.
Care Instructions: Not recommended for dishwasher. Hand wash with a soft sponge, mild soap, and water. Do not use abrasive cleaners, steel wool, or scouring pads that can scratch and dull metal surfaces. Dry immediately with a soft cloth to avoid spotting and pitting.
The Michael Aram Block Collection was inspired by the clean, linear proportions of contemporary interiors, so often influenced by mid-20th century design. In his process, Michael incorporated many concepts of blocks...the definitive composition of the deeply recognizable color-block art of Mondrian, the abstraction of individual city blocks naturally forming a pave pattern, even the texture of blocks of natural stone - introducing a new take on the organic motifs Michael is known for. The collection then comes together in a series of objects which all fit within a single large grid but can be arranged in an endless number of variations.
"I started with sheets of paper cut into various sizes of squares and rectangles in multiples of 2 inches. I took the pieces and arranged a pattern I thought was beautiful in and of itself. Then we took each one and assigned a function that related back to an entertaining moment that is more modern and so often how we all function today...heavy hors d'oeuvres. The result was a creative process that was unlike anything I'd done before and a collection that invites enormous interaction from the people who bring these pieces into their home."
